Spanish Immersion at Inspira STEAM Academy
At Inspira STEAM Academy, the study of a second language is an essential part of our educational program. We believe that learning Spanish at an early age provides powerful lifelong benefits for children:
Strengthens cognitive development by challenging the brain in new ways.
Builds flexibility in thinking and increases sensitivity to language and listening.
Deepens understanding of English through cross-language connections.
Expands communication opportunities with people students may not otherwise know.
Fosters cultural awareness and appreciation for diverse perspectives.
Research shows that full immersion is the most effective way to learn a second language. At Inspira, our Spanish Immersion Program provides a carefully balanced progression from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade:
Kindergarten & 1st Grade: 80% Spanish / 20% English
2nd Grade: 70% Spanish / 30% English
3rd Grade: 60% Spanish / 40% English
4th & 5th Grade: 50% Spanish / 50% English
This model ensures that students develop strong bilingual and biliterate skills while engaging in a rigorous STEAM and inquiry-based curriculum. Core subjects including; Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and STEAM projects, are taught in both Spanish and English, with Spanish prioritized in the early years to maximize immersion and fluency.
By Fifth Grade, students are not only confident in both Spanish and English but are also equipped with the critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills to thrive as global citizens.

At Inspira STEAM Academy, every first Wednesday of the month, we have designed these days to support both student learning and teacher growth.
Students: On the first Wednesday’s of the month, students will participate in hands-on STEAM programming during the morning. These engaging projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics are an important part of our curriculum and will be graded as part of their academic progress.
Teachers: While students are immersed in STEAM learning, our teachers take part in professional development and collaboration. This time allows educators to plan, train, and refine instructional practices, ensuring the highest quality teaching and learning for all students.
This model reflects Inspira’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence: students experience rich, inquiry-based learning while teachers engage in the continuous growth needed to sustain an outstanding bilingual STEAM program.
